Homework - sheets will be in your child's homework folder.

Friday 24th April

Phonics - Please complete the Little Wandle home learning sheet. Practice saying the sounds, reading and writing the words. Please send any completed writing back in your child's homework folder.

E-Collins Practice Book - This is your child's practise book that is aligned with their phonics assessment. Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week. Your child would have read this as part of their teacher led practice reading sessions so will be familiar with it. Please refer to the the inside front and back covers for activity suggestions when reading. Please comment and sign when you have read with your child.

Maths - This week in maths the children have been identifying that a whole can be broken to many parts - recognising that a whole can be regrouped into multiple parts but when combined they recreate the whole. Please help your child to complete and play the Paw Patrol sheet in their blue homework folder. Although there are 20 counters, please make sure the whole number is no more than 10. Children need use the language of 'part and whole when talking about what they notice. For example they may put 8 counters in the whole number and say "the whole number is 9". They then break the number into parts and move into the circles below. Children then say "I can see one part is 3, one part is 4, and the other part is 1." When asked what the whole number is they should still be able to tell you the correct number. They can move the counters back to the whole circle to confirm this. Children do not need to write the numbers using numerals or use the addition sign or equals sign for this activity. The focus is on exploration of breaking 'whole' numbers into 'parts'. Model the correct language to your child if required.

Theme - This half term's themes are 'Our Environment' where the children will be discussing what it means to recycle and plastic in our ocean and 'Planting Seeds' where the children will learn what a seed needs to grow.
