World Book Day 2017

Kidnap Dad to read On the Red Carpet

On March 2nd, Roselands Primary School celebrated World Book Day with a difference – by dressing up as `wild things`!  Inspired by Maurice Sendak’s classic 1964 story `Where The Wild Things Are`, children and adults arrived wearing a variety of exciting costumes, including tails, horns and oversized monstrous feet. After a whole school assembly in which the idea of being a `wild thing` was discussed and acted out, the children spent the day completing a range of cross-curricular fun learning all related to the story. The day concluded with the children kidnapping their parents and taking them into their classes, where they shared some favourite stories. One parent said, “What a fabulous idea. I’ve loved sitting on the red carpet and reading stories with my child. Lovely quality time!”
