Homework - sheets will be in your child's homework folder.

Friday 29th March

Phonics - Please use past Little Wandle home learning sheets to ensure your child instantly recognises and can say all previous sounds taught. Use the tricky word cards sent home to check your child can read every tricky word independently. Some children will have extra writing practice packs in their book bags. Please use these pictures for your child to write independent sentences (without being told what word to write next by an adult) using their Phase 3 phonemes.Please send any completed writing back in your child's homework folder.

Maths - Play board games that practice the skill of counting forwards and backwards. (e.g snakes and ladders) Your child needs to be able to say their starting number and be able to count how many squares they move and then say the number they will land on. 

E-Collins Practice Book - This is your child's practise book that is aligned with their phonics assessment. Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week. Your child would have read this as part of their teacher led practice reading sessions so will be familiar with it. Please refer to the the inside front and back covers for activity suggestions when reading. Please comment and sign when you have read with your child.

Theme - Go on a Spring walk and see if your child can find any of the mini beasts we have learnt about this half term. If your child would like to do an Easter, Spring or minibeast picture to send into school then this can be sent into school after the holidays.


Friday 22nd March

Phonics - Please complete the Little Wandle home learning sheet. Practice saying the sounds, reading and writing the words. Please send any completed writing back in your child's homework folder.

Maths - In your child's homework folder is a one more, one less activity mat. Use any objects (lego, pasta, counters, raisins) to make 'My Number' and then ask your child to say and create 'One More' and 'One Less'.

Theme - Over the next half term the theme is Amazing Animals and Mini-Beasts. The children will talk about which animals are wild and which can be kept as pets, which wild animals live in our country, nocturnal and diurnal animals, what is an insect? different kinds of mini beasts and where we might find them. They will explore the life cycle of a butterfly.
