On Thursday 14th March, eight Year 6 children from Roselands took part in a football tournament,
along with teams from seven other schools. During the group stages, we played against Wormley, St
Cross and The Cranbourne. Unfortunately, we lost our first game 1-0 to Wormley, but didn’t let this
distract us, we won our next two games (2-0 against St Cross and 3-2 against Cranbourne).

Next up was an intense semi-final match against St Augustine’s, ending in a very long penalty shootout
after drawing 1-1 after full time. After several shots and some children partaking in the second round of penalties,
Roselands came away victorious, securing a place in the final.

Our final game was a rematch against Wormley. With no goals scored by either team during the first half, everything was still to play for. Luckily, Roselands managed to score early on during the second half, giving us a 1-0 win and securing first place for us in the tournament.

All of the children who played in the tournament should be proud of themselves. Not only did they win, but they also displayed good teamwork, even better sportsmanship, and were respectful of all decisions made by the referees during the matches.

We are very proud of all of them!
