School Lunch

Currently all pupils in Reception and Key Stage One are offered a free school meal, in line with the national initiative called ‘Universal Free School Meals’.

Free School Meals
Families in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to free school meals. Even if your child is in Reception or Key Stage 1 and receiving universal free school meals these still need to be applied for as it brings extra funding to school as well as benefits to families like uniform vouchers and school trip remission.

Our school meals are cooked on site by Herts Catering Ltd who provide a range of meal options each day and cater for children with differing dietary requirements.

All school meals are freshly prepared each day on site and are made to meet all nutritional standards. Children have a choice of hot dishes including a meat choice, vegetarian choice, jacket potato or freshly prepared rolls. There is a selection of fresh salad to add to their lunch and fresh fruit, yoghurts, jellies, fresh- baked biscuits or traditional hot puddings to choose from.

Children may also choose to bring in a home packed lunch. These should not contain any sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks. Please note – We have some children that have severe nut allergies, therefore we are a NUT FREE school. This includes chocolate/chocolate spread that may contain nuts or have nut traces. If your child wishes to change from packed lunch to school dinners or vice versa, we will need one weeks’ notice to change arrangements with the kitchen. Children have the same lunch arrangement every day of the week – that is either packed lunch from home or school lunches.

Special diets and allergies can be accommodated and you are requested to apply directly on line via www.hcl.co.uk to our catering company. The arrangements have to be direct and not via our school office.
